Seeking God's Plans for Our Future
The Beginning of Something Big
In 2015, something extraordinary began. Our church was born out of the vibrant college ministry at Highland Baptist Church, fueled by a vision to reach university cities for Christ. Allen Tate and his dedicated team embarked on this journey, planting a church that would not only serve its local community but also spark a movement—a church-planting network that has continued to grow and spread. The Well Church Florence is honored to be a founding member of this network, a testament to God’s powerful work through us.
A Testament of God’s Power
Since then, God has used our church to help plant five new churches, with two more currently in the process of being planted. Through these efforts, countless lives have been touched by the gospel. Here at The Well Church, we’ve celebrated 94 baptisms in the past eight years, each one a powerful reminder of the life-changing impact your generosity has made possible.
From Plant to Permanence
Fast forward to 2023, and The Well Church embraced a new chapter with the arrival of Zach Miller as our lead pastor. Under his leadership, we’ve shifted our focus from merely planting to establishing a lasting presence in Florence. Our vision is bold and clear: to see every person in the city of Florence and on the campus of UNA engaged with Christ’s love and gospel. We are driven by a deep desire to be God’s instrument in making a profound, eternal impact on the community we are called to serve.
Our Next Steps
As we look ahead to 2025, we are filled with anticipation and excitement. We are preparing to move from the gym at Highland Baptist Church into our very own space at 855 Florence Blvd. This move is more than just a change of address; it’s a strategic step forward in our mission to send disciple-makers of Jesus by being disciple-makers of Jesus. We believe that with this new home, we will be better equipped to serve, reach, and love the people of Florence in ways that will bring God praise for all eternity.
Ministry Partners
On May 5th, 2024, the church voted to move to the new space with the assistance of ministry partners. The ministry partners believe that God is using our church and desire for us to take this next step in reaching our community. However, the ministry partners are doing exactly what they have committed to do: assist in the transition. The support has been offered in a two-year commitment at $48,000 per year.
Financial Gap
We desire to grow to a point where we can handle the costs of the new space while using it to make an impact. The church is best suited to function when 25% of the yearly budget is allocated to building costs. Since the cost of the building is $102,000, our total budget would need to increase to $408,000. Our current budget is $200,000. Therefore, we have a $208,000 gap to fill at the end of two years.
Initial Costs
The new space comes with some initial costs to create an environment to serve our church and community. We have created a list of needs for the new space to fulfill the ministry God is calling us to complete.

God has given each of us and the people we will reach great giving potential to support the future of our church. To prepare to be good stewards, we will launch a giving initiative in October of 2024. For the initiative, we will seek God’s will for our two-year giving commitment (2025-2026). We will also have a firstfruits offering to cover the initial needs in the new space. We will have a final collection on November 24th at our Sunday morning worship gathering. Later that evening, we will celebrate what God is doing at Wellsgiving.
The form below shows the firstfruits and 2-year commitment giving card. We hope this form encourages you to begin praying through your part in God’s plan for The Well Church. You will notice the form is anonymous. The goal of this form is not to create guilt or coerce giving. By contrast, the form is a tool to continue to grow in honoring God with our finances. As an external donor or church member, giving toward the Lord’s work is always an opportunity to be a part of changing lives.

We are preparing for a grand opening of our new worship space on February 2, contingent on the timeline proceeding as planned. We have a big goal to invite 1,500 people from the Florence community and the University of North Alabama campus to experience this special day with us. To reach this, we’re encouraging every person at The Well Church to invite 10 people they want to see there.
