What Is Salvation?
Salvation is what God does in a person's life when they trust in Jesus to forgive them of their sins. All of us have experienced the effects of sin. We experience the hardships and problems of this fallen world as a result of sin. We also experience the hurt and pain of the sins in the lives of those around us. When we are honest, we also realize we experience the brokenness and emptiness from the sin in our own lives. Each of us have willingly chose to sin, or disobey the God who made us. Therefore, we do not deserve a relationship with him.
However, the good news of the gospel is that Jesus Christ lived the life we could not live, a perfect life without sin. Jesus died the death we deserved, taking God's just punishment for our sins. Jesus rose from the grave, conquering the power of death and the consequences of sin.
Today, you can trust what Jesus has done for you to have the free gift of a relationship with God. No matter who you are and no matter what you have done, Jesus is seeking you to save you. He desires that you would trust him today and be saved.
If you'd like to be saved, you can ask God to save you right now by praying to him. The prayer below can help you articulate that request. Remember the prayer is not a magic formula that saves you. Jesus saves you through what he did on the cross. Your prayer just asks God to save you based on the work of his son, Jesus.
"God, I know that I am a sinner and that I do not deserve a relationship with you. Thank you for sending Jesus to die on the cross for the ways I have wronged you. I want to turn from my sins and trust Jesus to be my Lord and Savior. Will you forgive me? Will you save me? I pray this in Jesus' name, Amen."
