Baptism

Baptism is an outward expression
of an inward experience.

The Bible says trusting Jesus includes an inward experience where you have been spiritually united to Christ in his death, burial, and resurrection through repentance and faith. Then, Jesus called his disciples to profess their faith in him outwardly through being immersed in water. God chose this outward expression for his followers to show that they have decided to trust Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
